Rompetrol Quality Control is the laboratory division of the KMG International Rompetrol Group, founded in 2004 within the Petromidia refinery. Over more than 20 years of activity, the company has become a benchmark on the market of complete testing services for environmental factors (water, air, soil), waste (leachates/elutes), occupational pollutants, testing of masks and breathing apparatus, petroleum products (liquid, solid, gaseous), biofuels, petrochemical products, eco solvents, road bitumen, polymer-modified bitumen and bituminous binders.

The RQC laboratories in Năvodari and Ploiești are RENAR accredited (SR EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018), currently totaling 137 accredited services for the product matrices mentioned above.

Since its foundation, more than 13.5 million services have been performed, both for the two refineries and for partners outside the group.

RQC, through its partnerships with both state-owned and private companies, also enjoys international recognition. RQC is the first company in Romania to implement a LIMS software system for the management of all laboratory information.

RQC has implemented an integrated quality, environment, health, and occupational safety management system, in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 standards.

The only laboratory in the country specialized in specific tests for polymers

RQC is the only company in Romania performing complete testing for gasoline and diesel, under RENAR accreditation.

RQC operates the only laboratory in the country specializing in the specific testing of polymers. We are authorized as a "Testing and analysis laboratory in construction activities" in the MD – Road Materials and MP – Protective Materials against Corrosive Agents profiles. We also operate a specialized laboratory for niche products, including n-hexane, a polymerization solvent, and a food-grade solvent for the extraction of vegetable oils (Vega Refinery – Romania’s sole producer).

RQC has the necessary logistics to provide on-site services nationwide, and all laboratories operate 24/7.

Petroleum Products Laboratory – Năvodari

The Năvodari laboratory specializes in the complete testing of petroleum product quality – liquids, solids, gases, and biofuels – in accordance with national and international standards.

Structured into specialized technical units, the laboratory covers all relevant testing categories for the refining and distribution industry, including: density, distillation, viscosity, oxidation stability, flash point/freezing point, as well as octane and cetane number determination for gasoline and diesel, chromatographic tests (determination of paraffin, olefin, naphthene, aromatic, benzene and oxygenate content, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, gas composition, etc.), as well as spectral and special analyses: sulfur, gum, residual carbon, metals, oxidation stability, and hydrocarbon fractions for all types of samples (liquid, solid, gaseous).

Petroleum Products Laboratory – Vega Ploiești

The laboratory at the Vega refinery specializes in testing liquid petroleum products, bitumen samples, solvents, and n-hexane.

Activities are organized in specialized technical units, based on the type of testing: performs physico-chemical analyses for raw materials, semi-finished and finished products, conducts complex analyses for liquid products and bitumen and performs composition determinations for gasoline and solvent fractions, benzene content, aromatic hydrocarbons, and n-hexane, saturated, aromatic, and polar compounds.

Environmental Laboratories – Năvodari and Ploiești

The environmental laboratories in Năvodari and Ploiești perform real-time monitoring of air, water, soil, sludge, and waste quality.

For accidental pollution scenarios, a mobile laboratory is available, equipped for atmospheric emission measurements in compliance with EU standards.

The types of testing currently on place are on water, soil, waste, air and occupational pollutants.

Rompetrol Quality Control operates in accordance with the SR EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 standard, based on RENAR accreditation – the national accreditation body recognized internationally via multilateral agreements with ILAC, EA, and IAF.
