The operations of Rompetrol Well Services are managed in full respect of the environment, with policies in place to prevent pollution of water, air, and soil in our areas. We continually work to improve our environmental performance, reduce our environmental impact, and maximize the effective use of resources.
Rompetrol Well Services conducts its business in accordance with international standards and best available practices. The company’s operations are certified with ISO 14001 environmental management standard, which is renewed regularly. Whenever there are changes in the company activity, its environmental impact assessment is reviewed and updated.
Objectives included in the Environmental Management Plan address the following:
- Diligent monitoring and enforcement to mitigate adverse environmental impacts and align our operations with our strategic goals.
- Target: 0 accidental pollution caused by Rompetrol Well Services employees.
- We mandate that all contractors adhere to Health, Safety, Environment, and Energy standards. This includes meeting all legislative requirements and using equipment that meets specified emissions criteria for greenhouse gases and pollutants.
- A robust incident prevention program:
- Comprehensive spill prevention measures
- Regular spill prevention exercises
- Availability of spill neutralization substances on-site
- Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ensuring technical equipment is securely grounded to prevent static discharge
- Operational Safety and Preparedness
- Operational procedures during facility start-ups and shutdowns, coupled with regular spill response drills, enhance our readiness to manage potential incidents effectively. We also maintain an ample supply of spill-neutralizing agents to minimize environmental impacts.
- Waste management system (clearly labeled containers for different waste types, with monthly documentation and annual reporting to environmental authorities. We engage authorized service providers for the regular collection and transport of waste. Our facilities temporary storage solutions manage waste between collection intervals.)
- Agreements with local utilities to ensure responsible water consumption and disposal. (These agreements cover both drinking water supply and the treatment of household and meteorological water, emphasizing sustainability and compliance with local regulations.)
- Transparent communication of all environmental issues to our management (weekly meetings, monthly reports, quarterly updates in the Risk Register, and annual analyses within the Integrated Management System.)
- Integrated Management System (regular reporting for informed decision-making, a detailed metric system to monitor environmental aspects, including water usage, fuel consumption, power, wastewater quality, and waste management.
Rompetrol Well Services has successfully avoided significant spills and received no grievances from the local community.

Water
Rompetrol Well Services (RWS) efficiently managed water resources across its seven working points throughout the country (in Ploiești, Câmpina, Videle, Timișoara, Moinești, Mediaș, Govora) including operational and non operational bases, ensuring responsible consumption and adherence to environmental standards.
The water used is supplied by local water supply companies.

Waste
For waste management, Rompetrol Well Services SA adopts a structured approach, including the use of clearly labeled containers for different types of waste at each operating site. Monthly waste generation is documented, with annual summaries submitted to the relevant environmental authorities via the integrated environmental system managed by the National Environmental Protection Agency.
Waste disposal is carried out responsibly, with authorized providers engaged for regular collection and transport. The facilities are equipped with euro-containers and other appropriate temporary storage solutions, strategically placed to collect and store waste generated between collection intervals.
