Involvement in the communities
Our projects are strategic investments in the community and contribute to its long-term development. They also contribute to local well-being and provide the services and facilities necessary for a good quality of life.
We regularly meet with local stakeholders, from authorities to NGOs, to understand their needs, expectations and challenges. By listening to our partners and interacting with them, we ensure that our efforts meet the needs of each community and help them move forward.
Rompetrol Well Services has proven to be a responsible partner, reaffirming its commitments to civil society and sustainable development year after year. In Prahova County alone, it has carried out various actions and partnerships with NGOs, local authorities and other entities. Through effective collaboration, the specific needs of the communities have been identified and projects have been developed that contribute to improving their quality of life.
Education
A reference project supported by RWS is “Chess in School”, through which chess lessons are organized, in physical and online format, educational visits and competitions dedicated to students in Prahova, but also at national level. The initiative included the development and printing of a chess manual for the first years of study, distributed in urban and rural areas, contributing to the development of children’s cognitive and social skills.
The national program “Chess in School” covers 37 counties, reaching 130,000 children, while the municipality of Ploiești hosted two editions of the International Chess Festival, with the participation of children from four continents, all supported by Rompetrol.
Regarding vulnerable young people, the company, in partnership with the Humanitarian Organization “CONCORDIA,” supports activities for children in foster care centers and young people who live in social housing or participate in vocational training courses in Prahova.
Rompetrol Well Services also became a partner of the Royal Foundation “Margareta of Romania” in the “Generations” program, which promotes intergenerational education. Seniors who want to volunteer support children from disadvantaged families, providing assistance in after-school activities.
In the 2026-2027 school year, we will support the “Generations” method at the Community Center of the “Ana și Copiii” Association in Urlați, Prahova County. Here, 50 children, aged between 6 and 17, coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, come daily for a hot meal and help with homework. Through the Generations project, the center will create an attractive portfolio of educational, vocational and personal development activities, capitalizing on the experience and talents of seniors in the community.
In parallel, Rompetrol Well Services has developed partnerships with educational institutions, including the Petrol-Gaze University of Ploiești and the "Lazăr Edeleanu" High School, supporting educational projects and conferences that facilitate the connection between academia and industry and offer young people relevant professional perspectives.
The year 2025 marked the 25th anniversary of our traditional career-preparatory internship program, in which we have been training future industry professionals for 24 years. Young people enrolled in the program participated in introductory sessions, through theoretical modules designed to help them better understand the oil and gas industry, the fundamentals of upstream activity and the economic implications, followed by on-site training, provided by mentors on the Rompetrol Well Services platform.
At the end of the two-month program, participants received two certifications: one as a graduate of the "Career Ready" program and another as a graduate of the personal development program, carried out together with partners from the Leaders Foundation.
Environment
The commitment to the community is continuous and takes into account the needs of all residents. In partnership with the EcoAssist Association, through the project “We plant good deeds in Romania,” Rompetrol planted over 6,000 acacia saplings on an area of 1.2 hectares in the commune of Lapoș, Prahova County.
Also in 2025, Rompetrol supported a project to plant over 1,000 ornamental shrubs of different species in the West Park in Ploiești, contributing to improving air quality and the well-being of the community.
The youngest members of the community were not neglected. For them, we arranged the first inclusive playground in the West Park in Ploiești, adapted to all levels of mobility. At the same time, seven playgrounds were built and put into operation in Ploiești and Blejoi, in partnership with local authorities. All spaces are equipped with modern and safe equipment, to ensure a quality play environment for thousands of children from the two communities.
We actively contribute to the development of the communities in which we operate, using local suppliers, employing local workers and implementing relevant social responsibility projects. Our commitment is based on consultation with relevant stakeholders to identify projects with the greatest impact on our communities.
