Tradition inspires us. Energy connects us.

The National Chamber Choir "Madrigal – Marin Constantin", one of the most beloved and respected symbols of Romanian culture, embarks on a memorable musical journey to Kazakhstan, from May 2–12, 2025, at the invitation of the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Kazakhstan and with the support of Rompetrol.

"The Madrigal Choir’s tour in Kazakhstan is more than an artistic presence: it is an act of cultural diplomacy that speaks of deep ties and shared values. In a region with a spectacular historical heritage, Madrigal brings a unique voice—one that carries respect, friendship, and a sincere desire to build lasting bridges between cultures. It is both a personal joy and a diplomatic honor to help facilitate this meeting between the harmony of the European Renaissance and the deep vibrancy of Central Asia,” said Her Excellency, Mădălina Lupu – Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The central event of the tour will take place on the prestigious stage of the Astana Opera, where the Madrigal Choir will perform the extraordinary show "Madrigal – The Silk Road",

set in an original stage design created specifically for this occasion. The tour program also includes "Madrigal for Babies", an original project of the choir, to be held at the National Museum of Kazakhstan. This interactive event transforms music into the first language of emotion, discovery, and connection between the child, sound, and the world.

"Rompetrol supports the National Chamber Choir Madrigal – Marin Constantin on a symbolic journey that brings together music, heritage, and artistic excellence. The international tour in Kazakhstan represents more than a cultural event – it is a bridge of energy and culture between Romania and Kazakhstan, two countries that Rompetrol consistently connects through economic partnerships and, increasingly, through intercultural dialogue. Through this partnership, we support not only top-tier artistry, but also a form of sustainability focused on education, community development, and the preservation of cultural values for future generations. Like energy, culture has the power to forge strong connections, open new perspectives, and build lasting bridges between seemingly distinct worlds and fields," stated Erik Sagiyev, CEO of Rompetrol (KMG International).

The tour will also include the official launch of the album “National Anthems of Central Asian States”, hosted at the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, in the spectacular Palace of Peace and Reconciliation in Astana. This project marks the third series of national anthems produced by the Madrigal Choir, following previous editions dedicated to Latin America and the European Union – a profound gesture of cultural diplomacy and a reaffirmation of how art and national symbols can coexist, strengthening bonds between nations. The launch will be followed by a recital performed by the Madrigal Choir.

As a tribute to universal heritage, the Madrigal Choir will conduct a special filming in the ancient city of Otrar, one of the oldest and most significant cultural centers in Central Asia and part of the UNESCO World Heritage.

This historic site, once a vital hub along the Silk Road, will serve as the setting for a new episode of the international project “Romanian Contemporary Music in Universal Ancient Spaces,” joining previously filmed productions at Sarmizegetusa Regia, Machu Picchu, and the Pantheon in Rome. In this symbolic location, the Madrigal Choir will perform “Jocuri (fragment)” by Cornelia Tăutu – a Romanian composition with deep rhythmic resonance, specially chosen to build a bridge between contemporary soundscapes and the spiritual energy of a place steeped in history.

“Kazakhstan is a new stage for Madrigal. This tour is an artistic statement about harmony, respect, and the courage to unite traditions. The Silk Road is no longer just a historical route – it is a living line of dialogue between civilizations. With each step of this tour, the Madrigal Choir will bring to Kazakhstan not just music, but a shared emotion, a story of identity, harmony, and openness. It is an honor to give voice to a mission that connects worlds through sound. We are deeply grateful to the Embassy of Romania in Kazakhstan for the invitation and vision, and to Rompetrol – our main partner – for the trust and energy with which they support this artistic endeavor. Together, we give meaning to the idea of a cultural bridge between East and West,” said Emil Pantelimon, Manager of the Madrigal Choir.
