What makes Rompetrol special to you?

People. Since joining Rompetrol in 2012, one key thing I've learned is that every one of my successes has been directly connected with my efforts and someone who has taken a risk on me.

What fuels your drive?

Change. I am a curious person, hungry for knowledge and incapable of working on recurrent tasks for a long time. In Rompetrol I had the chance of joining various departments and implementing many first-time activities.

What do you like most about your team?

To quote one of my favorite interviewers Tim Ferris. “You are the average of the five people you associate with most”. Due to the nature of our current project, we are a mix of self-driven, highly professional people, each in charge of their part.  As one of my colleagues likes to say, we each have our superpower.  And most importantly, we are not just a group of people who work together, we are a group of people who trust and rely on each other.

Which is your biggest achievement in Rompetrol so far?

Hard to pick. I would say, the current project I am working on, Business Intelligence. As we are on the edge of finalizing it, I can say it was one of the most complex and interesting projects I was involved with, so complex that only 10% of companies worldwide managed to implement it successfully. That makes me proud!

Which is your key personality trait that helps you overcome hardships and challenges?

For years, my main personality trait that helped me overcome challenges was competitiveness. Today it is more of an educated trait, understanding the use of failures. It is not a failure if you get the right knowledge and meet the right kind of people. Arnold Schwarzenegger said “You will fall. And when you fall, the winner always gets up, and the loser stays down.” I think strategy of learning from failure should become a mandatory learning subject, just like Math or English.
